So for this
blog post, I decided to tone it down on controversies, and step it up on
quality and luxury. I was looking for a brand that represents that old school
1920’s gentlemen look and feel, while giving it a new modern twist and still
representing street urban culture. Ladies and gentlemen I present to you
Frank’s Chop Shop. Mike Malblon is the mastermind behind Frank’s Chop Shop
located in New York’s famous lower east side of China town, on the corner of
Essex and Hester. F.C.S. is a full-service gentlemen’s barbershop, focusing on
an environment where colleagues and business associates can feel relaxed and
comfortable, while providing shape-ups, hair-cuts, and old-fashioned straight
edge razor shaves. Mike brought the old school barber’s way of doing things and
gave it a new and eccentric twist, providing a high-end grooming experience for
the modern gentlemen of leisure.
Frank’s Chop
Shop is committed to providing a place of comfort, leisure and most importantly
style. Back in 1999, Mike and his brother Steve decided to create an art and
culture magazine called Frank 151 that was published four times a year. Their
inspiration came from one of the original gentlemen of leisure, Benjamin
Franklin. Ben was an inventor who lived life to the fullest and left a legacy,
as most men and women want to do with their lives. This is what drives and
motivates Mike to create his magazine, barbershop and clothing brand. Mike
harnessed his creativity, motivation and drive to create a unique barbershop
with an official retail location for both Frank’s 151 magazines and Frank’s
clothing brand, which specializes in designs for New Era 5950 fitted caps.
Franks Chop Shop and FRANK151 is an
independent internationally recognized media based company located in New York
City, with satellite offices in Los Angeles and Tokyo. Through a distinctive
mix of exclusive and unvarnished content, Frank151 speaks to a global audience
of culturally acute creators, agitators and connoisseurs. So the next time you want to pop some tags and
you find yourself around the neighborhood, make sure you stop by, get that
gentleman’s haircut and fresh gear at Frank’s Chop Shop.
