There has been a bird in the fashion industry that has
been creating quite a stir with its wings, influencing companies to re-think
how to brand themselves and become more creative with their products. This bird
comes in the form of a Pigeon, and this pigeon is no ordinary pigeon. Jeff
Staple is the man behind this famous pigeon. Jeff Ng also known as Jeff Staple
is the founder of Staple Design.
Founded in New York City, 1997, Staple Design was created
as a visual communications agency with divisions in design, consultancy,
fashion and retail. Staple Designs also provides services in branding,
editorial design, product design, packaging design, corporate identity and
web-design just to name a few. With Staple’s door officially open for business,
Jeff successfully turned his one-man T-shirt business into a men’s fashion
collection while also providing a full-service design firm. Eventually Jeff
opened a boutique retail store/art gallery spot called Reed Space.
The Staple Design pigeon not only produces work but also distributes
their lifestyle menswear collection worldwide. This collection splits into two
main lines. Staple, which is mostly graphic and print focused with tees, tops
and shoes. STPL, is a more upscale cut & sew collection. Staple Design has also
been working in conjunction with various major brands and companies in creating
unique products, which showcase the qualities of both collaborating parties
involved. His most famous collaboration
product came in the form Nike shoes called NYC Pigeon Dunks.
Staple Design has also collaborated and created
design work for Burton Snowboards, Converse, The Gap, HBO, Housing Works, Levi’s,
LVMH,
New Balance,
New Museum of Contemporary Art, Nike,
NYC & Co., Puma, Timberland, Uniqlo and more. This Pigeon has more fashion sense and design
ideas than you can handle. It is no wonder you have these powerhouse companies
scrambling for a piece of this bird, hoping it can catch flight and get a gasp
of fresh air.
